What is Geothermal technology?
It is one of the most efficient methods for heating and cooling a home.
By utilizing a heat pump, a geothermal system cools during the summer
and heats during the winter. It can also satisfy a portion of
domestic hot water needs.
Geothermal units are connected to an underground loop system, which takes advantage of the consistent, 50-55 degree ground
temperature. This makes it easier to absorb and reject heat than air-to-air
heating and cooling systems.
This system only requires one component, a single indoor cabinet that
isn't much larger than a traditional furnace.
Geothermal technology isn't a new concept, but is gaining popularity as
energy prices continue to rise. Stark's Inc. has installed
Geothermal systems in Northwest Ohio for over 20 years.
Why choose Geothermal? On average, geothermal units
save
25-50% in energy costs annually. Rather than depending on a fossil
fuel to heat and cool, the only portion of the system that uses
traditional energy is the indoor cabinet.
Which types of Geothermal do you install? Stark's offers
closed loop
horizontal and
vertical systems. For those with more
space, closed vertical loops are used. In tighter spaces, closed
horizontal loops are used and can even be horizontally bored.

Stark's Inc. does not install open loop or "pump and dump" systems.
We use quality HDPE (high density polyethylene) piping with a life
expectancy far past 50 years.
What if I have a lake or pond? Stark's also offers closed
loops for
pond and lake applications. The body of water must be
at least 8' deep with enough mass to exchange heat efficiently.
Deeper water is preferred. Systems are available for existing
ponds and lakes, as well as bodies of water that are being proposed.
