It can also satisfy a portion of domestic hot water needs. Geothermal units are connected to an underground loop system, which takes advantage of the consistent, 50-55 degree ground temperature. This makes it easier to absorb and reject heat than air-to-air heating and cooling systems. This system only requires one component, a single indoor cabinet that isn't much larger than a traditional furnace. Systems are available for existing ponds and lakes, as well as bodies of water that are being proposed.
